Dear Happy Valley Families,

We hope you are well! I wish to provide additional information to you regarding our opening of school and our Distance Learning Program.

Our teachers are in the process of setting up appointment times to meet with you and your child regarding the structure of the school day. They will provide information about the class schedule and the expectations for attendance and completion of work. It is imperative that students attend the scheduled on-line instruction each day and complete all assigned work, as this is a state requirement for student accountability.

Pending the outcome of the benchmark data on August 7 from our Maricopa Country Health Department, we will determine our opening date for on-campus instruction. It is our desire to open campus on August 17th, pending the health data.

Below I outlined some details regarding the differences between our teacher instructed on-line classes prior to our on-campus instruction and our Distance Learning Plan after our campus is open for instruction.

  • From August 5 until the date we open campus for on-campus instruction:
    • Each student has been assigned to a class/teacher and will receive instruction from their classroom teacher/s every day.
    • The teacher will provide both teacher-led whole class and small class instruction to each student.
    • Students will be expected to complete all assignments and submit the work, as directed, to receive credit and grades.
    • Attendance is mandatory every day.
  • After the campus opens for on-campus instruction, the Distance Learning Program will begin for those students electing this option.
    • Parents must complete and submit their request for the Distance Learning Program by August 5th. (See attached form) Distance Learning Sign Up Submit form to sheim@happyvalleyschool.org
    • Parents may elect to return to on-campus instruction during the following times: October 5 (1st Quarter), January 4 (Semester), March 22 (3rd quarter).
    • The DL program is operational for the 2020-2021 school year.
    • The DL program is designed to provide both synchronous and asynchronous learning opportunities for students.
    • The DL teacher will not be the same teacher as originally assigned.
    • Students will be expected to complete all assignments and submit the work, as directed, to receive credit and grades.
    • Attendance is mandatory every day.

Finally, I wish to let you know that we are taking every precaution to make our campus safe for all our employees, students and families. Daily we will be sanitizing each classroom and all areas of our school with an approved disinfectant spray. We will require masks when students and employees are unable to social distance. Our specific safety protocols for our school will be provided to you shortly.

Thank you very much for your continued support for our School. We look forward to our ongoing partnership throughout the year.

We are excited and ready to teach your children!

Best Regards,

Jeannine McDonald, Principal
