March 19: Important Happy Valley School Update for Families:
Regarding COVID:19 Response

Dear Happy Valley Families, In light of the constant changes we have recently experienced, it is important to keep you abreast of our educational plans for your child during this challenging time. In the interest of your family’s health, our leadership team has been planning options should there be a school closure for an extended period of time.

As of today, there have been no decisions by the state regarding state assessments, school calendar, make-up days or specific requirements for learning. While school is out of session, our cleaning staff is working diligently to ensure our campus is clean and safe. The well-being of students, families and staff is extremely important to us; and thus, our administrative team is preparing fully to resume a thoughtful, educational experience for your child.

On Monday, we will begin training our teachers for distance learning. With our Information Technology staff, IT, and administrative support, our teachers will learn new and exciting ways to facilitate learning through on-line methods. Throughout next week, our teachers will receive extensive training to help them create “live” on-line classes for your child. As our teachers feel comfortable with these tools, they will be able to help our students engage in this learning platform. Once our program is fully designed and ready for implementation, each teacher will reach out to you via phone or email to communicate the details about the distance learning class, including schedule, how to access the class and expectations.

Provided our traditional learning in the classroom does not resume by March 30, we will begin our distance learning classes on March 30. The distance learning programs can be completed through phones, tablets or computers; however, if you do not have the technological capabilities to ensure distance learning, we will provide alternative methods of home learning. Again, we will keep you informed in an effort to make this transition easy and effective.

A reminder: Happy Valley School and daycare programs will be closed following Spring Break through March 27. We hope you are healthy and safe and encourage you to follow the recommendations provided by the CDC to increase the frequency of handwashing, avoid gathering in groups larger than 10 and staying at home if you are ill.

We are hopeful to return our students to campus quickly, and we continue to look forward to serving your family.
Thank you for your continued patience, support and partnership, as we seek to find positive solutions to a difficult situation.
Best Regards, Jeannine McDonald, Principal
