Happy Valley School provides transportation to and from school along
specified bus routes and for field trips.
Buses are operated in accordance with state and federal safety
regulations. Parents and
students sign an agreement regarding bus policies and acceptable
behavior on the bus.
If students walk, ride bicycles or use other personal means of
transportation to and from school, parents need to sign a permission
form. Students must remain
in an area of staff supervision at all times, and our staff must know
how students go home each day.
In the interest of safety, order and parent convenience, student
drop-off procedures for arrival in the morning and pick up procedures at
dismissal times in the afternoon have been established and published in
our Parent Handbook.
Students may be signed in for Day Care before school as early as 6:15
a.m. At 7:15 a.m. school
staff members are on the curb to help children out of the vehicles
dropping them off. Other
staff members supervise children on the playground, including students
who were in Day Care, from 7:15 until they go inside for class at 7:55
a.m. Day Care is also
available in the afternoon after dismissal until 6:30 p.m. every day.
There are 5 different dismissal times for students, depending upon the
class level, beginning at 2:00 p.m. for kindergarten and ending at 3:05
p.m. for bus students.
Class dismissals are
divided into 15 minute intervals, except for bus boarding.
Staff members help students into vehicles at the end of the day, or take
them to their assigned buses.
Many parents carpool and students riding in the same carpool are
assigned the same dismissal time.
Classes begin at 8:00 a.m. each day.
At that time students are to be in their seats working, not just
arriving on the parking lot.
Buses are scheduled so that students arrive between 7:30-7:45
a.m.
